Greetings from The Slave Detective,
The problem of Indian women being brought to The UK on ‘Bollywood Dance’ visas is a topic I have covered previously.
One of our cases on The Human Trafficking Team, Operation Gelada, looked at just that. DC Neil Cook spent many hours on a case that ultimately ended without a prosecution. There were many problems with the authenticity of our victim and the cultural differences of different terms used.
India have now recognised that they are also the destination country on many trafficked women.
In this article it appears there have been moves to ensure victims of sex trafficking from Eastern Europe and around the Black Sea are not prosecuted.
The move comes after many girls from Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and even European countries were arrested in high-profile raids in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore recently in possession of ‘tourist ‘visas.
